Xátiva is a municipality and a city of the Valencian Community located in the south of the province of Valencia, in the north of the Central Comarcas and capital of the La Costera region. It has the largest number of enclaves in all of Spain, with a total of twenty-six.
Historically, Xátiva was one of the most important towns in the Kingdom of Valencia, rivaling even Valencia and Orihuela, the other two most important cities in the foral era. The festivities and fairs of Xàtiva take place from August 14 to 20, and have been held since 1250, by the privilege of Jaume I, the “Fira d’Agost”, a FESTIVAL OF NATIONAL TOURIST INTEREST. In it, all kinds of commerce are held in the innumerable "paraetes" (barracks) that are set up from one end of the city to another.
